The RWKC would like to say thanks to the following for renewing or joining the RWKC in November. Lew Bashaw President's Corner We had a wonderful luncheon with Ann Romney wife of presidential hopeful Governor Mitt Romney on November 9th, a very nice article by Gazette reporter. Julie Mack and we also had Vince Soo do our pictures, click here to look at the event Photos Ann Romney Luncheon For those of you that did get a picture Vince will replace it due to a flaw. Please contact Vince Soo Thank you! to the following who helped in making Ann Romney's luncheon a great event: Karen Bailey, Nancy Jean, Jase Bolger, Larry DeShazor, Robin Sherman, Karen Makay, Steve Sachs and Vince Soo and of course the Romney campaign. One person can not do it alone it takes the help of many hands, so thank you for helping! Christmas is just around the corner and many families in Kalamazoo are in need. Arlie Hammons our member works with the VFW Dads. Here is what he has to say: "The Dad's group from the VFW Post in Augusta gives away Christmas baskets every year. The Idea is that we not only want to take care of a family for Christmas, but also let them have some good food for a few other meals. We gauge the basket on the size of the household. Every basket will include either a turkey or a half ham. We also give them fresh milk, eggs, bread, butter, flour, sugar, vegetables, soup, candies, chocolates, peanut butter and anything else that we can think of to let them not worry about eating for a few days. We also give everyone in the house gloves and a hat, sometimes if we get a good deal we include scarves. When there are kids we make sure that they have age appropriate toys. We've been doing this for more than 10 years. We need toys for these kids. We can do it without your help, it just lets us put more money into food for the families if we don't have to spend it on toys. When we show up at a house and say that we have a basket for them the look on their face is satisfying, when we say that we have to go back to the car to get more, and more and still more it is truly a Mastercard Moment. Thank you for helping to make this season just a little easier for 20-30 families in our area. Merry Christmas and thank you for sharing your blessings with others." So when you come to the dinner on December 10th, please bring a toy of your choice ($5-$10 range) so that we can be a part of making some Kalamazoo families have a brighter Christmas.Ideas: board games, puzzles, cards, coloring books, books (all ages including teenagers), or email Arlie Believe it or not 2008 is just around the corner, get involved with a candidate of your choice and make a difference. The RWKC will be bringing in as many candidates thru out the year from not only our district but state wide seats, stayed tuned for more information in future email blasts. We have a great chance this year to beat Sen. Carl Levin with Andrew "Rocky" Raczkowski! Rocky is a decorated veteran and has served our country well and knows what we need to secure our borders, and can garner the votes of Michigan's mainstream voters. Many of you may have gotten the letter that was sent out. Rocky will need lots of money and volunteers to beat the democrat machine here. An official announcement has not been made, but this writer did talk to Rocky and we are working on a special event for him so watch your emails. Rocky was a state representative in a very difficult district, is a business owner, is right on the issues, and can win those independent voters, a Major in the US Army Reserves, served in Afghanistan, and so much more.!
